'Stop Duke Energy Rip Off' rally held in St. Pete

St. Petersburg, Florida -- A group called "Stop Duke Energy Rip Off" held a protest Saturday in front of the Duke Energy building in downtown St. Petersburg.

The protesters are trying to stop the proposed $3.2 billion settlement between Duke Energy and the Florida Public Service Commission dealing with rate hikes to offset the cost of closing the Crystal River nuclear plant and cancelling a proposed reactor in Levy County. 

Pinellas family gets new home

Pinellas County, Florida -- A Pinellas County family has a new home tonight thanks to Habitat for Humanity and the helping hands of Clearwater Toyota.

The dealership not only donated $70,000 to the cause, 30 of its employees worked feverishly for more than 200 hours to build a home for a family in need.

The general manager of Clearwater Toyota says they'll be back again next year to give another family a beautiful new home.

Get behind-the-scenes look at 'Dolphin Tale 2' set

Clearwater, Florida -- This weekend, Oct. 12-13, you can get a behind-the-scenes look at the set of Dolphin Tale 2 that is currently being filmed at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.

The Aquarium just announced you can get your first look at the movie set during normal operating hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

After this weekend, the Aquarium will be closed for filming during the weekdays. Production is scheduled to wrap up in about three months.

Teen Read Week challenges youth to break comfort zones

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Clearwater Public Library System will host its annual Teen Read Week, Sunday, Oct. 13 through Saturday, Oct. 19.

Teens are invited to visit any library branch and pick up a book to participate in the "Break Out of Your Comfort Zone Challenge."

Teens who read books in genres or formats they generally avoid will be eligible to vote for their favorites and win prizes for their efforts. Librarians will be on hand to offer suggestions and assistance.
