Residents urged to get rid of old prescriptions on Drug Take-Back Day

Tampa, Florida -- The US Drug Enforcement Administration is partnering with local law enforcement to coordinate a nationwide drug "take-back" day on October 26.

This one-day even will provide residents with no cost anonymous collection of unwanted and expired medicines.

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- There's something for everyone's tastes this weekend in Tarpon Springs--from tasty food trucks to arts and crafts.

The Sponge Docks Arts and Crafts Festival will be held both Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 26 & 27 on Dodecanse Blvd.  The event runs from 10:00am-6:00pm both days and features dozens of artists from around the country selling everything from ceramics and jewelry to handmade soaps and paintings.

7-Eleven clerk fired for pulling gun in armed robbery

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida- Robert VanConett just wanted to make an honest living working the late night shift at the 7-Eleven on 34th Street North in St. Petersburg. He became increasingly concerned for his safety however, after a series of armed robberies over his six years with the company.

"It's a little scary at times working overnight," said VanConett.

Congressman Bill Young memorialized at Largo service

Largo, Florida - Congressman Bill Young's casket was flag draped; fitting for a man who served his country for decades.

And indeed, speakers during Thursday's service talked of Young's dedication to the United States and his zeal for helping those in the military, especially wounded warriors.

"We will never forget his love and care for those who protect and defend our nation," Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) told the gathering.

Experts call for museum to pull questionable baseballs

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida - Following 10 News' investigation into possible forgeries plaguing a new baseball autograph exhibit at the St. Petersburg Museum of History, local and national experts are calling on the museum to verify the centerpieces of the collection.

Congressman Young laid to rest at Bay Pines

St. Petersburg, Florida - After the services at First Baptist Indian Rocks Church, Congressman C.W. Bill Young's body was taken to Bay Pines National Cemetery.

While there, dozens of family members and a few close friends were allowed to attend the private services.

Before the burial, there was a gun salute; a bugle call and then a fly-over by three Blackhawk helicopters. 

Aquarium to open weekends during movie shoot

Clearwater, Florida - The Clearwater Marine Aquarium, which closed to visitors during filming of the Dolphin Tale 2 movie, will be open for visitors on the weekend.

"Due to this overwhelming demand of visitors wishing to visit Clearwater Marine Aquarium, and to see Winter and her resident friends, CMA announces that it will now be open all weekends (Saturday and Sunday, 9:00AM - 6:00PM) for normal operating hours during filming of Dolphin Tale 2, except certain filming dates to be announced later," the aquarium announced today.
