2nd Annual Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival begins Friday


Clearwater, Florida-- It's time to play and stay on Clearwater Beach for the 2nd Annual Sugar Sand Festival!

Locals and visitors alike have between Friday, April 4th and Sunday April 13th to visit the Sugar Sand Walk Exhibit and Master Sand Sculpting competition, where 1,000 tons of sand will be transformed into amazing art.

The event is set to run from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.

Tickets are available on site. Pricing, according to the Sugar Sand Festival website, is as follows:

Walkers raise awareness of child abuse


Clearwater, Florida -- April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and a Florida woman along with her supporters. are taking steps across the state to promote awareness.

Today, they made a stop in Clearwater.

Sadly, statistics show each year in Pinellas County alone there are 12,000 reports of abuse or neglect filed.

Jamie Krueger of Tampa took part and says she took an important step forward. "I feel so proud, proud of myself for not keeping it in anymore. I want someone else to know you can tell somebody," she said.

Coast Guard rescues diver near Tarpon Springs


Tarpon Springs, Florida -- A Coast Guard helicopter rescued a diver about 15 miles northwest of Tarpon Springs on Wednesday.

The Coast Guard says it received a call shortly before 10:30 a.m. that a crew member on board a charter dive boat was unresponsive after sustaining injuries while diving.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter that was already in the air was diverted to the location as another crew member aboard the boat performed CPR.

Six people were injured in the crash.


Tarpon Springs, Florida -- The Tarpon Springs Police Department has reopened all northbound lanes following a 5-vehicle crash at U.S. 19 at Klosterman Road that closed the northbound lanes in that area for about two hours Tuesday afternoon.

Clearwater, Florida -- A preliminary report into the crash of a small plane in Clearwater last weekend says the pilot reported a "fuel emergency" beforehand.
