Gulfport, Florida -- We got a taste of hurricane season right off the bat this year with Tropical Storm Andrea.  Andrea spawned a waterspout that came ashore as a tornado in downtown Gulfport on the morning of June 6. The storm caused a good deal of damage to some homes and local businesses, and felled many trees and power lines as it moved from the beach northward to Clymer Park and beyond.

Gulfport, Florida -- Just before 1 a.m. Monday morning, Gulfportian Mark Gildauskis smelled smoke. He looked outside and saw smoke coming from the exhaust stack on George’s Grill on Newton and 49th. At the same time, his neighbor Cynthia Conley noticed smoke as well.

Stray bullet shoots through St. Pete home on July 4th

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida -- Illegal celebratory fire on July 4th hit one man in the face, and another falling bullet went through a family's home. Both incidents happened in St. Petersburg, just three miles apart from one another.

One incident happened near 10th Avenue and 16th Street. A bullet fell straight on to a man's face, hurting his eyebrow and neck. He was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to St. Petersburg police.
