Florida State Parks announces 2011 Photo Contest winners

Tallahassee -- Three people have been named winners in the 2011 Florida State Parks Photo Contest.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Florida Park Service made the announcement Friday with the top three selected from 12 monthly photo contest winners throughout the year.

Visitors of the Florida Online Park Guide voted each month to determine a winner. Professional photographers then evaluated each month's winning pics to pick the top three winners.

First place went to Jean Clark's, Bobcats, taken at Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park in Homosassa. Second place went to Heidi Hopwood's, Edge of the Fountain of Youth, at De Leon Springs State Park in De Leon Springs and Kristin Crawford came in third with Max at Sunset taken at Honeymoon Island State Park in Dunedin.

Clark will receive a Florida State Parks Family Annual Entrance Pass for coming in first. Hopwood and Crawford will get Florida State Parks Individual Annual Entrance Passes.

Visitors can begin sharing their best photos on their state parks experiences for the 2012 Florida State Parks and State Trails Photo Contest. Register and submit your favorite photos for a chance to win a Florida State Parks Passport.
