National Quilting Day celebrated at Heritage Village | Arts & Culture
Heritage Village will celebrate National Quilting Day on Saturday March 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Quilting guilds from Clearwater, Dunedin, Largo, Palm Harbor and St. Petersburg participating in this free event include the Procrastinating Quilters, Suncoast Quilters Circle, Quilter’s Crossing, Innovative Quilters, Hidden Stitches and the Largo Cracker Quilters.
This free family event will include quilting demonstrations of both hoop and frame techniques, as well as how to make “yo-yos” – rosettes made by gathering circles of fabric.
All visitors will have the opportunity to participate by making pillows for women recovering from breast cancer and arm pillows for children treated at All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg. Children who make an arm pillow may make a second pillow to take home.
National Quilting Day, celebrated the third Saturday in March, is sponsored by the National Quilting Association as a day service for local quilters to give back to local communities throughout the nation.
Parking is free. Donations are welcome to help support Heritage Village.
