Treasure Island, FL - According to a release by The Club at Treasure Island, Mayor Bob Minning recently announced that the City of Treasure Island will host a special proclamation ceremony for R&B legends Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr. on January 13, 2011 at 5:30 pm.  The ceremony will be held at the Treasure Island Sunset Beach Pavilion (8000 West Gulf Boulevard), overseeing Florida’s most beautiful beaches and breathtaking sunsets, and will be open to the public.

The Mayor of Treasure Island will declare January 14, 2011 to be “Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr. Day” and present the First Couple of R&B with the official Key to the City.

“Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr. are much more than just two of the most celebrated musicians in the history of American music,” said Mayor Minning.  “Yes, they’ve won six Grammies, seven gold albums, five gold singles, 15 top-ten hits and earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  But they’ve also been inspirational role models for generations of music-lovers.  To celebrate their first-ever concert in the City of Treasure Island, we’re delighted to present them with this very special honor.”

On Friday, January 14 at 9:00 pm, Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr. will debut their 45th anniversary concert at The Club at Treasure Island, home of Tampa Bay’s most intimate concert venue.  A limited number of tickets for non-members will be available for $65, with a portion of proceeds benefiting All Children’s Hospital; the ticket hotline is 888-695-0888.
