Learn Your Home's History

Gulfport, Florida 00 The street we all call 53rd – the one where you find city hall – used to be called Lee Street. While volunteering with the Gulfport Historical Society, George Allen discovered the "Streets and Avenues" collection. These books, compiled by the Gulfport author Lynne Brown, list almost every street in Gulfport and contain histories of the houses. Mr. Allen learned that his street used to be called Casaurina, a type of tree native to Australia, although his home doesn't have a specific entry.
