Teens invited to take center stage at Largo's Summer Theater Camp

Largo, Florida -- Teens ages 12-18 who want to act out their dreams of becoming a performer are invited to spend their summer singing and dancing at the Largo Cultural Center.

LCC will offer a three-week day camp, Thoroughly Modern Millie Junior, in which campers will be trained in acting, solo and ensemble voice development, choreography and prop and scenic design by experienced teachers. Campers will culminate in a final performance to showcase their skills and talent.

The camp is scheduled from July 22 to Aug. 10. Limited scholarships are still available.

Gulfport, Florida -- Come help the Gulfport Historical Society reinvent itself at its first-ever porch party.

Over the years, community participation in the society has dwindled, and the board wants fresh ideas and new faces to help make the museum a gathering place for everyone who loves Gulfport.

To that end, the Society will host an informal porch party on Friday, June 28. The party will start at 7 p.m.; the society will have light beverages on hand for free and wine available for a small donation.

Largo, Florida -- A new exhibit has opened up at Heritage Village in recognition of Viva Florida 500. 

This will highlight 500 years of historic people, places and events in present-day Florida since the arrival of Juan Ponce de Leon in 1513.

To commemorate the anniversary, Heritage Village features reproduction weapons, nautical items, clothing, camp gear, religious items and other items to tell the story of everyday life during the early exploration and colonization of Florida. 

The exhibit is at the Heritage Village at 11909 125th Street North.
