Attendance way up at Clearwater Marine Aquarium | Business
Clearwater, Florida - Attendance at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium hit a high-water mark July, with 32,453 visitors - a 39% jump from July 2009.
Attendance for the same period 5 years ago was 9,302.
Officials credit the increase to all the buzz about "A Dolphin Tale," the feature film about the aquarium's resident celebrity, Winter the tailless dolphin. The movie opens September 23, and the movie trailers are already playing in theaters.
"With the unparalleled publicity from the movie, CMA is progressing on a new path that includes a $12 million dollar expansion that will allow for the growth of the mission - Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Release of sick and injured marine animals and public education," CMS stated,
The aquarium is located at 249 Winward Passage on Island Estates in Clearwater Beach.
