Beach Theatre goes dark

St. Pete Beach, Florida -- After 73 years, the big screen at the Beach Theatre went dark last weekend. The France family cannot say when, or if, the theatre will reopen.

Last Saturday night was supposed to be the final show, a midnight "Rocky Horror Picture Show" with the live cast, Interchangeable Parts, performing in front of the screen.

Shopapalooza 2012 coming to St. Pete

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Shopapalooza, Tampa Bay's small business solution to "Black Friday," is right around the corner.

Admission to the event at S. Straub Park, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, is free. For more chances to win swag, though, you can pre-register here.  Check out some of the deals already lined up for this year's Shopapalooza.

St. Pete Sam's Club now open

St. Pete Sam's Club now open

St. Petersburg, Florida -- The city's first Sam's Club is now open on 34th Street North at 17th Avenue North in St. Petersburg.

The closest location was the Pinellas Park store on Park Boulevard. Now there are three in the area, including one in Clearwater, following the late-October opening.

According to the retailer's website, the store hired nearly 170 new associations and managers. This is the 45th location in the Sunshine state.

A membership is required to shop at the store.

Vendors sought for Pinellas Paws Cause Holiday Celebration

Pinellas County Animal Services is seeking vendors to participate in the Pinellas Paws Cause Holiday Celebration, to be held at Animal Services on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In its second year, the goal of the Pinellas Paws Cause event is to increase the number of adopted dogs and cats, educate the public about the adoption center and shelter activities and raise awareness of the Animal Welfare Trust Fund, which is used to enhance the lives of the shelter animals while they are waiting to be adopted. Proceeds will benefit the trust fund.
