Fishermen to gather at rally in Downtown
St. Petersburg, FL -- City leaders are expecting large numbers of commercial and recreational saltwater fisherman from across the U.S. in downtown St. Petersburg for a rally tomorrow.
The fisherman plan to protest the ban on gag grouper fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. The rally will be held in a lot at 310 13th Ave. South, near the National Marine Fisheries Service, from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
Motorists should expect heavy traffic and congestion near Third St. and 13th Ave. South. The 300 block of 14th Ave. South will be in closed during the rally. Message boards will be posted at key intersections to ensure a smooth traffic flow and safe pedestrian crossings.
