Cross Bayou and Joe’s Creek to get a cleanup | Community Spirit
Pinellas County is partnering with Keep Pinellas Beautiful to clean up two of Pinellas County’s waterways, the Cross Bayou Canal and Joe’s Creek, starting 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 14.
Volunteers will be either land-based or can participate on the water from a canoe or kayak. The meeting point for the effort is the Pinellas County property at the end of 78th Street North across from the Wagon Wheel Flea Market on Park Boulevard.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., with trash collection taking place from 8:30 to 11 a.m. After the refuse has been disposed of and the recyclables sorted, volunteers can enjoy lunch and raffle giveaways.
Participants should bring comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, work gloves, a hat, sunscreen and a chair or towel to sit on during lunch. Trash grabbers, bags, gloves, a map and drinking water will be provided. Life jackets will be required for all participants working from watercraft.
Register online at www.pinellascounty.org/volserv/events.htm by Monday, April 9. Participants who are younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Individuals who are 16 or 17 must have parental permission.
