Oldsmar, Florida -- A local active duty soldier is about to deploy on his second tour to Afghanistan, and his family has invited Patriot Guard Riders to help honor him with a send-off. They're organizing an escort for him from Oldsmar to Tampa.

Army Spc. 4 Ian Kane last served in Afghanistan in 2009, when he was on guard duty and tower patrol. He's considering re-enlisting in the military for at least an additional two years, and wants to become a police officer once he completes his service.

Flag bikes are encouraged to attend on Monday, June 4 as the Patriot Guard Riders stage at 8:00 a.m. at 3410 Tampa Road to provide the escort from Oldsmar to Tampa International Airport.

Spc. Kane is a Tampa Bay native. He was born in Dunedin, graduated from East Lake High School in 2008, and has been married for three years.
