St. Petersburg, Florida - The 2010 Christmas on Gandy celebration is underway at the First Baptist Church of St. Petersburg.  Organizers say this year's Christmas program features an American celebration of music from across the USA.

They also say the program, in its third year is intended to bring people from all walks of life together under one roof to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ while spreading Christmas joy and holiday cheer.

A 90 voice choir and 35 piece orchestra filled the sanctuary Saturday night with festive holiday tunes from many different genres of music.

In addition to the choir, children joined in on songs and even popular holiday characters like Frosty the Snow Man, made cameo appearances.

A special offering benefits St. Petersburg Free Clinic which is an organization that helps thousands of needy people get free medical assistance, food, shelter and much more.

Christmas on Gandy continues on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of St. Petersburg at 1900 Gandy Boulevard in St. Pete.

Visitors will once again be welcomed by Dick Crippen, Senior Advisor for the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team and Meteorologist Sherry Ray Hughes from the 10 News Weather Team.
