Palm Harbor, FL -- The Suncoast Primate Sanctuary of Palm Harbor will hold their first Banana Ball at Ruth Eckerd Hall on Friday, Nov. 18. They hope to make this fundraiser an annual event.

A ticket to the Ball gets you dinner and a chance to bid on several auction items. Funds raised during the evening will benefit the Sanctuary's campaign to build a medical resource center for primates and exotic animals.

They also hope to purchase the land directly behind the Sanctuary, at 4600 Alt. Hwy 19, to expand the current building.

The Sanctuary cares for animals that can no longer be cared for as personal pets or that retired from the lab or film industries. The Ball will be held at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater.

It starts with a VIP ticket holder reception from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. and continues with dinner at 7:45 p.m. followed by silent and live auctions.

Tickets are $180 for the VIP reception, $80 for general admission or $140 per couple. You can purchase tickets through the website at or by phone at 877-476-8499.

If you need more information you can reach the Sanctuary at 727-943-5897.
