Pinellas County, Florida --  Commission Chairman Kenneth T. Welch looks back on – and ahead to –   several key issues facing Pinellas County in his year-end State of the County video posted this week and on the county’s Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages. Gulfport, Florida -- For years, former Gulfport mayor, Mike Yakes, tried to light the Christmas tree in Clymer Park, and every year he found himself unable to do so without help from some of the youngest Gulfportians. Monday night Gulfport’s new mayor, Sam Henderson, tried to light the tree only to discover that he, too, lacked the power to launch Gulfport into the Christmas season without help from Gulfport’s kids.

Community Action Stops Abuse, CASA, brings together the community to stop domestic violence. The December 5th event costs $25 per person and starts at 7 am. More than 600 Tampa Bay area businesses leaders are part of this event.

Upper Tampa Bay Chamber Names 2013 Business of the Year

Tampa, Florida-- The Upper Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce named the winners of their 2013 Business of the Year competition at their recent luncheon hosted by the Tampa Bay Downs.

Boat parade scheduled for December 14th

Boat parade scheduled for December 14th

Clearwater Beach, Florida -- The annual holiday boat parade will be held December 14th.

Decorated boats should assemble in the Mandalay Channel and head to Coachman Park at 6:30 p.m. The parade will work its way under the Memorial Causeway Bridge to the Yacht Clubs judging stand.

Prizes will be awarded for the best decorated boats.

Participants must register by December 7th.

The event is sponsored by the Island Estates Yacht Club and is held in memory of club members who died during the year.
