Painting for Peace Saturday

Clearwater Beach, Florida-The Rotary Club of Clearwater Beach is hosting a Painting for Peace Day Saturday.

Students from the Interact High School and Rotary International will paint storefront windows of local businesses with a picture for peace.

Those businesses include Nature's Food Patch, Crabby Bills Beachwalk, Florida Beach Rentals, Belloise Realty, Marley's Monster Grill, Bike Rentals, Chapel by the Sea, Island Dog Outfitters and Aloha on the Beach.

Gulfport, Florida -- Every summer, the art teacher at Gulfport Multipurpose Senior Center goes north for the summer. And every summer, the students so much don't want classes to end that they keep going without a teacher. Instead of relying on formal instruction, they continue to meet weekly at the Senior Center and paint. If someone needs advice, criticism, or help, they help one another.

Golf tournament benefits Tarpon High's trip to Macy's Thanksgiving Parade

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- Golfers can hit the links this weekend and help the Tarpon Springs High School Marching Band make it to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The Crescent Oaks Country Club is playing host to a benefit golf tournament to help raise money to pay for the band's trip to New York City on Saturday, September 14.

CareFest seeks volunteers and groups to adopt a project

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Volunteers are needed for various home repair projects, painting, mowing, weeding, yard work and cleanups throughout St. Petersburg neighborhoods on Saturday, September 28.

The annual week of compassion-related activities culminates with a day of service that gives back to the community, benefitting individual homeowners, schools and non-profit organizations. Neighborhood organizations, churches, school clubs, teams and businesses are invited to participate in a variety of one-day projects.
