Lottery scratch-off ticket burglar hits same store 3 times | Crime
Dunedin, Florida -- Detectives are asking for the public's help identifying the man they say may be responsible for three burglaries of a Dunedin convenience store in the past month.
The suspect is described as a white male, about 6 feet tall, 165 pounds with a medium build. He is also working with a woman who is helping him cash in stolen lottery scratch-off tickets at area convenience stores.
Pinellas Sheriff's detectives say the first robbery the suspect is believed to have been involved in occurred on Jan. 17. They say he went into the Munchees store on Bayshore Boulevard armed with a gun and took cash, lottery scratch-off tickets and spice.
On Jan. 22, a woman cashed in the winning stolen tickets at the Citgo gas station on Missouri Avenue in Clearwater.
On Jan. 29, the man smashed in the Munchees window and grabbed about 100 scratch-off tickets and put them in a garbage bag he found behind the counter, along with several packs of cigarettes.
A few hours later, the man and a woman were seen cashing in the winning tickets on surveillance video at the 7-Eleven on Alt 19 in Palm Harbor.
Finally, around 9:35 p.m. on Feb. 1, the man went back to Munchees again and stole money from the register and cigarettes.
Investigators say the man was wearing what appeared to be the same gray hooded jacket with red lining along the collar and front her wore in the smash-and-grab robbery just a couple days prior. He also had a similar height and build described in the previous robberies.
Anyone with information on the identity of the man and/or woman is asked to contact Detective Jeff Capra or Detective Holly Tsanakaliotis at 727-582-6200.
