Vandalism with sling shots and marbles lands two in jail | Crime
Clearwater, Florida -- After a city-wide search for a pair of vandals shooting out a number of business and vehicle windows throughout the city, Clearwater Police finally caught up with the culprits Sunday night.
Clearwater Police say just after 10 p.m. Sunday patrol officers found the white sports car that matched the description given by witnesses parked on Cleveland Street near Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue. Around that same time, a call came in of another vehicle with a window shot out in that area that reportedly happened just before the car was located.
During a traffic stop, officers found Alabama residents, 24-year-old Dominick Zambrano and 22-year-old Seth Cazalas, in possession of sling shots and marbles that matched those recovered at various crime scenes throughout the city.
Officers say the two men admitted to their involvement in several incidents. They were arrested and charged with shooting a deadly missile at an occupied vehicle and criminal mischief.
In all, police say there were a total of 28 cases involving 21 businesses and seven vehicles. Detectives are working to determine the number of charges that will be filed on each of the men. No one was injured in any of the incidents.
