4 hospitalized after 'cool mom' serves kids drinks

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- A Tarpon Springs mother is facing multiple charges of child neglect after police say she bought alcohol for five minors, four of which were treated for alcohol poisoning at nearby hospitals.

Police say Mellisa Mundell took three of the kids to a liquor store where she bought a bottle of Barcardi rum and Coke. She then brought them back to her home in the 1600 block of Fox Run Drive and served them drinks, including her own child.

At one point, she went into her room to talk with her boyfriend on the phone and when she came back she found the kids vomiting.

According to the arrest report, when she spoke with police, Mundell said she had made a "huge mistake" and wanted to be a "cool mom".

She has been charged with five counts of child neglect.
