Office of Consumer Protection promotes anti-fraud awareness

Pinellas County, Florida -- Pinellas County Office of Consumer Protection is participating in International Fraud Awareness Week through Saturday, Nov. 9, as an official supporter to promote anti-fraud awareness and education.

“While prevention and detection is a year-round endeavor, International Fraud Awareness Week shines a spotlight on fraud and supporters of the campaign demonstrate their understanding that spreading awareness is key in combating the global fraud threat,” said James D. Ratley, president and CEO of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

He said that the support of organizations around the world helps make Fraud Week an effective tool in raising anti-fraud awareness. 

Pinellas County Office of Consumer Protection will give a presentation on Charitable Solicitations and Giving Wisely on Thursday, Nov. 7. The presentation will be held at the Aging Well Center, located on 1501 N. Belcher Rd in Clearwater.
