National Night Out on August 6

Pinellas County, Florida-- Support crime prevention in your neighborhood at this year's National Night Out.

This free event will take place on Tuesday, August 6th beginning at 5 p.m.

All participating are asked to meet at the Target parking lot, located at 7150 US 19 North.

National Night Out is an annual event designed to strengthen communities and their relationship with local law enforcement in order to heighten crime-prevention awareness. 

St. Pete woman gets 18-year sentence in fatal crash

LARGO, Florida (AP) - A judge sentenced a St. Petersburg woman to 18 years in prison for her involvement in a fatal crash while eluding authorities during a drug deal.

Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge Timothy Peters called the case a "horrific situation" as he issued the sentence on Tuesday in Largo. Stacy Lynn Naples pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide, aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, child neglect and drug possession.

3 sought in TJ Maxx theft

Seminole, Florida -- Pinellas Sheriff's detectives are asking for the public's help locating three people who stole several polo shirts from a local TJ Maxx store.

According to detectives, on Monday, July 8 around 4:59 p.m., three people walked into the TJ Maxx store in the 7100 block of Seminole Boulevard. 

The suspects grabbed several polo T-shirts before running out of the store. 

The suspects left in a silver Mitsubishi sedan with a purple license plate that read ABH496 or AEH496. The vehicle was last seen heading north on Seminole Boulevard.

Gulfport, Florida -- Last week, a Lealman middle school student who lives in Gulfport reported three fellow students for attempting to sell him marijuana; as a result, those students beat him on the bus ride home.

Suspect sought in St. Pete Fifth Third Bank robbery

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Officers and detectives are searching for a man who robbed a Fifth Third Bank on 66th Street North Tuesday morning.

St. Pete Police say around 11:24 a.m., the man presented the teller a note demanding money, but no weapon was seen.

SWAT conducts search of Tarpon Springs home

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- The Tarpon Springs Police Department tells 10 News its SWAT unit has conducted a search warrant at a home in the 900 block of Sunrise Drive.

Sgt. Ed Miller says the operation was a joint High Intensity Drug Trafficing Area program (HIDTA) narcotics investigation involving not only the Tarpon Springs Police, but agencies from Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando counties.

As of 3 p.m. on Tuesday, police would not release any more information because it is an ongoing investigation.

Cops: Man overhead saying he wanted to kidnap kids at park

Safety Harbor, Florida -- Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit are seeking information on a suspicious man who was last seen in the area of Philippe Park in Safety Harbor Sunday afternoon.

Deputies say around 2:43 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, they responded to a call of a suspicious man in the playground area of the park after a child in the playground overheard the man saying he wanted to kidnap the children who were playing there.
