Brian started the workshop by letting the audience choose what kind of look to demonstrate on the live model Ariana Cooper and Sunstate instructor Lori Stowers.  This was to demonstrate the same look done 2 different ways.

Brian had Athena Montague who is a former graduate of Sunstate Academy, assist him with the looks. The look that was chosen was “modern”.  Some of the brands found in Brian’s makeup kit were Nars, Laura Mercier and makeup brushes by Eco Tools.  He is one makeup artist that is very adamant about using fur free brushes.  He stated “I don’t feel like because I have this career that I have to drag animals into it”.

Brian who assisted Pat McGrath for 3 years, talked about the importance of assisting someone in the industry and building a strong portfolio to submit to an agency.  Brian even me the opportunity to actually apply individual lashes (I’ve never done it before, I usually use strips) on model Ariana under his guidance. I was so nervous but I did it!

Louis who styled Ariana’s and Lori’s hair currently works for Garren Salon in New York.  He also talked about the importance of assisting someone in the industry.  Brian and Louis were very inspiring and approachable with any questions.

I loved how they shared with us some of the good and bad situations they have encountered while in the industry. Overall the workshop was a lot of fun! They are both represented by Judy Casey and I will definitely be following their careers!
