Tickets on sale for Matinee Music Series

Largo, Florida - Enjoy a fabulous dinner, entertainment and night of dancing in the grand ballroom for the Largo Community Center's Sunday Matinee Music Program Series.

Each show will feature a delicious meal, live entertainment and dancing. All shows will begin with dinner at 3:30 p.m. and entertainment at 4 p.m. Dancing is held immediately following the entertainment, from 6-10 p.m. Cash bar is available.

Frenchy's ready for 2-day block party

Clearwater Beach, Florida - Frenchy's kicks off its 30th Anniversary this weekend with a big block party outside the original café on Baymont on the north beach.

The street was blocked off Thursday as crews put up a big tent, a stage, tables and chairs for attendees, and stations for food and beverage service.

The event is open to the public from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and features Frenchy's signature dishes, including she crab soup, seafood gumbo, boiled shrimp and fresh grouper sliders.

Muppet Classic at Sunset Cinema

Clearwater Beach, Florida - Robert Louis Stevenson's classic gets a Muppet's adaptation at Sunset Cinema Friday.

"The Muppet's Treasure Island" will be shown at Sunset Cinema shortly after dusk in Pier 60 Park.

Saturday's feature film is October Sky.

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- It seems impossible, but you can enjoy 2PM at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7 at the Tarpon Springs Cultural Center.

In this case, 2PM is musical group--a trio made up of Pete Price (guitar and bass,) Pete Hennings (guitar, bass, mandolin, and violin,) and Mike Jurgensen (guitar). 

They play an eclectic mix of original songs and covers from groups like the Beatles and the Everly Brothers.

Sacred Heart Fall Festival starts next week

The public is invited to attend the Sacred Heart Fall Festival, taking place October 12 - 16 at the Sacred Heart Church.

The festival times will be Wednesday - Friday from 6 - 11 p.m., Saturday from noon till 11 p.m.,  and Sunday from noon till 8 p.m.

Fun for all ages, the Fall Festival will include great music, food, games, and prizes.

Ride tickets are available for purchase prior to the festival for only $12 per sheet, or a sheet of tickets will cost $18 if purchased at the festival.

From "Key Largo" to Hollywood

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- He made Key Largo famous, now singer-turned-movie maker Bertie Higgins is hoping to put his hometown, Tarpon Springs, on the Hollywood map.

Higgins, who's hit "Key Largo" reached number 1 on the Billboard charts in 1981, is now a filmmaker and actor.  He co-wrote and produced his third film, "Through the Eye", which is directed by his son Julian Higgins.

Higgins will be showing "Through the Eye" on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. at the Muvico Theaters in Palm Harbor.

St. Petersburg, FL -- Cooler weather means it's time to enjoy the downtown waterfront with free film classics and music.

You can check out a film each Thursday evening in October (6, 13, 20, 27) in North Straub Park on Beach Drive between Fourth and Fifth Avenues NE.

Live music starts at 6 p.m. and movies at dark.

"Music & Movies in the Park" is produced by St. Petersburg Preservation each October and May to help highlight the cities 100+ year old downtown waterfront parks.
