Sherlock Holmes and teen anime featured in new library programs

CLEARWATER, FL - Teens and adults will enjoy special September programs offered at the Main Library, 100 N. Osceola Ave., Clearwater, including a festival of Sherlock Holmes films and a club for teens interested in anime/manga illustrations and video:

Teen Anime/Manga Club: Teenagers are invited to join this illustrative club to watch, draw and/or discuss anime/manga style art, Saturdays, Sept.3 and 17 at 2 p.m.

Films on the Bluff: A new series of art house and foreign films begins Sept. 3, 2 p.m. at the Main Library. Call for titles and information on the free event.

Sherlock Holmes Film Festival: Bring the entire family for a screening of the 2009 film starring Robert Downy, Jr. and Jude Law. The free event includes Sherlock Holmes trivia, prizes, a screening of the 1944 Basil Rathbone film, The Scarlet Claw and is sponsored by Pleasant Places of Florida.

Jazz Classic planned for Clearwater Beach

Clearwater Beach, Florida - Jazz fans from around the country will be heading to Sand Key for Florida's largest Dixieland Jazz Classic featuring classic and contemporary jazz, as well as swing, blues, soul, ragtime and Cajun/Zydeco.

It will be held Nov 18 - 20 at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort, the Marriott and Holiday Inn Suites.

This year's groups include Bill Allred's Jazz Band, the Midiri Brothers, Comet Shop Suey, Tom Rigney & Flambeau and the Original Wildcat Jass Band.

Disney films coming to Sunset Cinema this weekend

Clearwater Beach, Florida -- Two Disney films will entertain beachgoers at sunset this weekend.

"Alice in Wonderland" will be shown Friday evening, and "Tron Legacy" will be shown Saturday evening.

The movies are free and can be viewed from the lawn at Pier 60 Park.

Pinellas Park, Florida -- The German American Society of Pinellas will be welcoming the public to enjoy two nights featuring the talented performer Jeanne Sube.

First the club will host their Biker's Night event on August 27, followed by the Labor Day Dance on September 3.

Both occasions are part of the society's weekly Dinner and Dancing event.

Pinellas Park, Florida -- The community is invited to attend Opera in the Park, which will take place on Saturday, August 20, at the Performing Arts Center.

Artists will perform solos, duets, trios, and other ensemble configurations from several well known operas. 

The show will be presented in two acts, with an intermission dividing the time. 

A narrator will provide a brief description of each rendition.

Clearwater, Florida -- On August 4, 2011, the Tampa Bay area got a special visit.  Brian Duprey a celebrity makeup artist and Louis Angelo a celebrity hairstylist visited Sunstate Academy in Clearwater to inspire other artists. 

If you are not familiar with Brian Duprey he has worked with celebrities such as Kristin Bell, fashion designer Betsey Johnson and magazines such as Russian GQ.  Louis Angelo has worked with celebrities such as Rachel Bilson, and his work has graced the covers of Elle Magazine, Russian GQ, and Voque just to name a few.

Brian started the workshop by letting the audience choose what kind of look to demonstrate on the live model Ariana Cooper and Sunstate instructor Lori Stowers.  This was to demonstrate the same look done 2 different ways.
