Local estuary programs hold King Tide Photo Contest | Environment
Tampa Bay, Florida -- Tampa Bay and Sarasota Bay Estuary Programs are holding a King Tide Contest for the best images that depict the King Tide tomorrow, June 5.
King Tides occur when the moon and sun align on one side of the Earth and their gravitational forces combine to create extraordinary high tides - usually twice a year.
Cash prizes are being offered for the best photos that illustrate the sea level rise:
- First Prize - $200
- Second Prize - $125
- Runner-up - $75
Submissions should include one picture of an area at low tide and one at high tide at the same location. Photos can be emailed to email@example.com. For examples of previous King Tide photos check out the Florida Tide Watch Flickr webpage.
Contest deadline is June 11.
You can also send your pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org for our weather team and website!
