Extension help desk comes to Weedon on Wednesdays

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Spring is approaching and so are the many pesky lawn and garden problems that come along with it. For the convenience of residents who want to prevent being bugged by warmer weather, Pinellas County Extension is setting up a lawn and garden help desk at Weedon Island Preserve on Wednesdays through the months of February, March and April.

The help desk is already buzzing with activity at the Extension offices at 12420 Ulmerton Road in Largo. By expanding to Pinellas County’s Weedon Island Preserve at 1800 Weedon Drive NE in St. Petersburg, residents will have easier access to the free service.

The Weedon help desk hours will start Wednesday, Feb. 6, and will continue through March and April. Master Gardeners will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Wednesday to answer questions, look at samples that are brought in by residents, identify plants and insects and address many other horticulture problems.

Pinellas County Extension offers classes, programs and activities at the Cultural and Natural History Center. The center features the permanent exhibit, Connecting People and Place, an art-inspired, hands-on educational exhibit which reveals the area’s history, ecology and people. The center is open Thursday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is closed all Pinellas County holidays.
