St. Pete Beach -- Future city buildings will need to be green.

The City Commission passed the ordinance requiring all future municipal buildings in the community redevelopment district to follow environmentally sustainable building practices.

Passing this ordinance is needed for the city of St. Pete Beach.

This means the city will get a "Green City" designation from the Florida Green Building Council.

However, this does not require standing buildings to be rebuilt.
