Quick ways to stay prepared for hurricanes

The Pinellas County Communications Department's August 2011 newsletter features several key facts and reminders to help ensure residents are fully ready when severe weather strikes.

Here is this month's checklist on preparedness, with some reminder questions to get you thinking about your hurricane plan:

  • Now that we are in hurricane season, carefully monitor weather forecasts daily to stay up to date on the latest conditions.
  • August is the perfect time to call the contact numbers you have for friends and relatives just to confirm that all of the numbers are up to date.
  • Where is your homeowner’s insurance policy? Do you have the pertinent information (policy number, customer service phone number, etc.) written down on a card in your wallet, just in case you need it, but you can’t get access to your policy?

For more safety information and reminders, you can read the newsletter online.
