Guided tram tour

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Every Tuesday through Saturday the Boyd Hill Nature Preserve offers guided tram tours throughout the preserve. 

Beginning at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, the tour will go through the Boyd Hill Nature Preserve observing alligators, gopher tortoises, birds and wild fires. 

The cost is $2.00.

Clearwater, Florida -- The City of Clearwater will host a water cleanup at Glen Oaks Park, and volunteers are needed to remove trash, litter, and debris from the water and surrounding land areas.

It will take place on March 23 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Glen Oaks Park, 1345 Court Street.

Volunteers are encouraged to bring canoes and kayaks, and some boats will be available for use. Trash pickers, trash bags, gloves, and drinking water will be provided.

All ages are welcome, and service hours will be validated.Meet at the gate on Betty Lane on the west side of the park.

Pinellas gets the gold Green Local Government

Pinellas County, Florida -- Pinellas County has become the first county in the state to achieve a Florida Green Local Government recertification.

The county successfully met the five-year recertification requirements and sustainability standards established in the Florida Green Local Government Certification program. The award was formally announced during the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners public meeting on March 12.

Saturday, March 16 people have the chance to go on a free one-hour hike along the campground trail at Fort De Soto Park. 

Hikers will absorb the history, natural beauty, and complexity of the ecology. 

It will begin at 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and leave from Fort De Soto Park, 3500 Pinellas Bayway South.
