Old Pinellas Bayway bridge becomes an artificial reef

Pinellas County, Florida -- The old Pinellas Bayway bridge became part of the Pinellas County’s artificial reef system in the Gulf of Mexico over the summer.

About 12,500 tons of bridge material from the demolition of the old Bayway bridge went to the South County Reef. The deployments began in May and were completed by mid-September. The bridge material was donated by Orion Marine Group Inc., who was contracted by the Florida Department of Transportation to demolish the old Bayway bridge and construct a new four-lane high level bridge.

Clearwater, Florida -- The city wants you to speak up about an anchoring and mooring pilot program.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is seeking input from cruising boaters, local boaters and residents in evaluating the effectiveness and fairness of the temporary ordinances and the pilot program.

The survey cakes about 5 to 10 minutes to complete, and ca n be accessed by visiting www.mydwc.com.

Pinellas County, Florida -- Pinellas County reclaimed water seasonal restrictions will begin Tuesday, Oct. 1. These restrictions limit reclaimed water irrigation during authorized hours to three days per week based on house number.
