Pinellas County, Florida -- Got unwanted electronics or chemicals? Collect hazardous waste items from your home, office or garage, and properly dispose of them at the upcoming mobile collection event:

On Saturday, September 21 Pinellas County residents can drop off their hazardous waste materials from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Seminole High School.

Pinellas County Extension and St. Petersburg landscaping specialists will host the workshops at the St. Petersburg Water Resources Department's "green" building located at at 1650 3rd Ave. North.

Palm Harbor, Florida -- The east section of Wall Springs Park in Palm Harbor is now open. The park was closed yesterday, Sept. 11, due to a fire at the observation tower. The section on the west side will remain closed at the bridge.

Pinellas County, Florida -- Solar Energy Management (SEM), a solar power company headquartered in Tampa, recently donated and installed a 5.62KW solar power system on a Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County home in Pinellas Park, the first Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County home to use solar electricity.

4-H welcomes fall with fresh, flavorful apples and pecans

Pinellas County, Florida -- The annual 4-H apple and pecan sale sponsored by the Pinellas County 4-H Association is now in full swing. This sale is the main fundraiser for the 4-H Association. Each year, the Pinellas County 4-H Association awards $6,000 in grants for 4-H camps and trips, 4-H Legislature, 4-H Congress and, most recently, college scholarships.

This year, the sale is featuring Yellow Delicious and Empire apples. Both varieties are excellent for baking, cooking or just eating.
