Ducks dying at Tomlinson Pond

Gulfport, Florida -- Last Wednesday night, one of the Tomlinson Park ducks died in Gulfport Police Officer Jennifer Crowson's arms. Another duck had already died when the Gulfport Police arrived at the pond, and a third died en route to the emergency veterinarian.

Largo, Florida - The City of Largo Parks Division released Air Potato Leaf Beetles in the Largo Nature Preserve. The beetles will also be released on Air Potato infestations at George C. McGough Nature Park, John R. Bonner Park, Largo Central Park and the new Highland Recreation Complex.

Prescribed burn today at Brooker Creek Preserve

Pinellas County, Florida -- The Florida Forest Service will conduct a prescribed burn at Brooker Creek Preserve, today, August 9.

The prescribed burn is expected to start at 9:30 a.m. and end at approximately 6 p.m., near the wellfield area, north of Keystone Road. It involves between 50 to 100 acres, depending on the weather conditions and fire activity throughout the day.

Pinellas County, Florida -- The Florida Forest Service will conduct a prescribed burn at Brooker Creek Preserve, today, Aug. 8.

The prescribed burn is expected to start at 10:30 a.m. and end at approximately 6 p.m. It involves approximately 34 acres, near the wellfield area, north of Keystone Road.

Gulfport, Florida -- You may recycle because, as some say, "it's the right thing to do", but many people don't realize recycling can mean money for Gulfport. Unlike trash, which the city must pay the county to accept at its waste-to-energy (WTE) facility, materials recovery facilities, or MRFs (pronounced to rhyme with "turf"), pay cities for their recyclables.
