Keep Pinellas Beautiful beach cleanup

Tierra Verde, Florida -- There will be a coastal cleanup for Pinellas beaches this weekend.

Fort De Soto Park, Cunningham Key & the Sunshine Skyway all need a little bit of a cleanup after the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The cleanup will being on Saturday, July 13 at 9 a.m. and will end at noon. 

People who want to volunteer should meet at 9 a.m. inside Fort De Soto Park at shelter 12 by the Bay Pier and dog park to sign in and get their assignment.

Largo, Florida -- If you are ages 16 and older and have a passion for recycling, be sure to take this opportunity to become a recycling ambassador in your neighborhood. 

The City of Largo is seeking Green Team Volunteers to help with recycling recruitment and community education. Green Team members will help Largo's businesses and residents to reduce waste through the City's free recycling program.

Safety Harbor, Florida -- The partners of the Be Floridian fertilizer education campaign want to remind residents of Manatee and Pinellas counties and the city of Tampa that they can't apply nitrogen or phosphorous to lawn and landscape plants from June 1 to September 30. 

Garden centers throughout the community offer a variety of "summer-safe" yard products that will keep the landscape green and growing through the summer. Look for fertilizers with "0" as the first two numbers on the label (ex. 0-0-6).

North Pinellas County reclaimed water system returning to full operation

Pinellas County, Florida -- The North Pinellas County reclaimed water system will return to full operation beginning Tuesday, July 9.

Through the implementation of two-day-per-week watering, reclaimed water system shutdowns, customer response to a request to conserve, and the return of seasonal rains, the reclaimed water system in north county is now capable of operating at full capacity.

Sirata Saves Beach with Sea Oats

Gulfport, Florida -- Between Crabby Bill’s and the Sirata, eager volunteers worked out a steady rhythm Saturday morning: push the broomstick in the sand, drop in a baby sea oat, pat down the sand and sprinkle it with water.

For the second year running, volunteers from across the Tampa Bay area joined forces to help Pinellas County Environmental Management, the Florida Aquarium, the Sirata Resort and St. Pete Beach plant 10,000 sea oats.

Celebrate July at Weedon Island Preserve events

Pinellas County, Florida -- Numerous hiking opportunities continue at Weedon Island Preserve in July. Each Saturday beginning at 9 a.m., participants learn about the ecosystems and early residents of Weedon Island Preserve in these two-hour guided hikes. The hikes along the coastal uplands and along boardwalks through mangrove forests are best for ages 6 and older.

Gulfport, Florida -- By this time next year, Gulfport could have a low-impact bike share program in full swing – at no cost to the city. A company called Tampa Bay Bike Share (TBBS) approached the city about placing rental bikes in downtown Gulfport.
