The Return of the Rowdies: 2014 NASL soccer season kicks-off with expectations sky high

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- The Tampa Bay Rowdies enter the 2014 season with as many world championships as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Rays and Tampa Bay Lightning – combined. Expectations are sky high that the 2014 NASL campaign will conclude with the Rowdies raising their third Soccer Bowl championship trophy, and claiming their second world title in just the past three years.

Pinellas County, Florida -- Heartened by the approach of Valentine’s Day, Pinellas County Animal Services is offering sweetheart specials on the adoptions of cats and dogs through the end of February. Love is just a leash away!

The adoption fee for large dogs and cats will be $25 and $75 for puppies and small breeds during normal shelter adoption hours. The fee includes a medical checkup, spaying/neutering, vaccinations, internal and external parasite control and microchipping. The required Pinellas County license is also provided.

During this remarkable 10-week course, participants go behind the scenes at many Pinellas County operations and talk to the experts as the class explores a wide range of county functions.

Commercial fertilizer classes offered at the county Extension

Pinellas County, Florida -- As of Jan. 1, anyone applying fertilizer commercially must carry the new Limited Commercial Fertilizer Applicator Certificate.

This requires completing the Green Industries Best Management Practices (GI-BMP) training, passing the exam and then applying for the license.

On Tuesday Jan. 28, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. the Pinellas County Extension is offering a GI-BMP certification class. The class is $15 and the state certification is $25.

St. Petersburg, Florida -- The St. Petersburg Main Library is making a film that will compile stories from the illustrious decade of peace, love and harmony - the 1960s.

Pinellas County, Florida -- Celebrations continue at Heritage Village with the Pinellas Folk Festival on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Dozens of Tampa Bay area's premier folk musicians will spread the sounds of traditional folk, gospel, country and bluegrass music on stages throughout the village.
