Look outdoors to prepare for the next eSeries: Prepare to Survive | Events
Getting your yard ready for hurricane season can be just as important as preparing your home. Join eSeries: Prepare to Survive at noon on Wednesday, May 2 as host Tom Iovino interviews Dale Armstrong, Pinellas County Extension agent, as he shares tips and techniques for selecting plants and trees that fare best during hurricanes, reveals how proper maintenance of trees can help them weather the worst and provides steps to help reduce the likelihood of your home being damaged.
Prepare to Survive can be seen online at www.pinellascounty.org/eseries or on PCC-TV (Bright House Channel 622, Knology Channel 18 or Verizon Channel 44). The dates for the upcoming Prepare to Survive eSeries presentations are June 6, June 27, Aug. 1, Sep. 5, Oct. 3 and Nov. 7.
The eSeries is part of an initiative by Pinellas County to reach a wider audience through the use of emerging technologies with a focus on hurricane preparedness. The county is also using email subscriber lists, emergency text notifications, social media and the new LiveChat featured on www.pinellascounty.org. These efforts join conventional outreach initiatives.
