Plan for delays due to Vans Warped Tour in St. Pete

St. Petersburg, Florida -- St. Petersburg goes full tilt tomorrow, July 26, when thousands of punk, ska, and rock fans converge on Vinoy Park for the Vans Warped Tour.

More than 100 bands are expected to perform on three stages during the St. Petersburg leg of the annual nationwide summer concert tour. In addition to live music, fans can get autographs, attend meet-and-greets and visit an array of socially-conscious vendors. While concert-goers will be allowed to carry in one sealed bottle of water, hydration stations and misting tents will be available inside the gates, along with cell phone charging stations. Adult chaperones may relax with cool drinks and family-friendly, interactive activities in the air-conditioned comfort of the Reverse Daycare tent until 6:30 p.m.

Motorists may see delays on I-375 at the I-275 interchange due to heavy traffic volume on Friday morning. Suggested alternate routes include Fourth St. N. or I-175 to Third or Second Sts. from the south if arriving at this peak time.

Fans attending the Vans Warped Tour are encouraged to locate off-street parking for the day-long event as downtown on-street parking is dedicated to short-term parking only. Traffic officials also request drivers attending the festival locate a place for their vehicle in downtown parking garages or surface lots and avoid parking in adjacent neighborhoods.

Both city-owned parking garages, BayWalk, with an entrance at 117 Second St. N., and South Core, with an entrance at 100 First Ave. S., will charge an all-day parking rate of $5.

Parking will also be available in the Pelican and Dolphin parking lots, located on in the 200 block of Second Ave. N., for $5. There will be limited parking in the Al Lang Stadium parking lot on Friday.
