Keep Gulfport Weird Triathlon coming up in September

Gulfport, Florida -- Plans are under way for the upcoming Keep Gulfport Weird Mini Triathlon scheduled for Saturday, September 28, same day as the Tangerine Blues Fest.   This route connects the 49th St. Redevelopment District with the Waterfront area. The course will incorporate in order, a 1 mile run, 3 mile bike and 1/4 mile swim.  The run will begin at the church parking lot of 5424 Gulfport Blvd. S., then, bike around the Clymer Park Greenways to Shore Blvd. S., to finish with a swim along the beach from Shelter # 7 to the Gulfport Casino.

The race is designed to be short enough to invite participation from most ages and fitness levels, whether individually or in teams, and is intended to be simply for fun.  The competitive component is not the priority, but rather the gathering of community in the spirit of having fun and getting outdoors.

If you would like to participate as a volunteer, your assistance is key for the success of this event. Business sponsors are also welcomed in donating gift certificates towards prize give aways during this fun event.  If you would like to volunteer, or if your business is interested in participating, please contact Justin Shea at 727-893-1118.

This year, everyone that registers gets a cool bright orange t-shirt with the Keep Gulfport Weird  logo.  Registration is $10 per person.
