Thursday radio show helps you be a smart consumer- email questions in!

Pinellas County, Florida -- Those who think they are savvy consumers may think twice after hearing about the latest consumer scams. On Thursday, Nov. 7, the radio show “There’s No Place Like Home,” sponsored by the Housing Finance Authority of Pinellas County, will highlight protection against unscrupulous scammers.

The show features Deborah Berry, of Pinellas County Justice and Consumer Services. Topics include the latest consumer scams, how to find a licensed contractor, foreclosure prevention and charitable donations.

Come shred your important papers in November!

Largo, Florida - The City of Largo hosts Shredfest, the free, paper shredding event where residents can bring their personal documents to be securely shredded and recycled.

Attendees can bring up to five file boxes of paper per car to be shredded and recycled. There is no need to remove staples, tape, paper clips or rubber bands. In celebration of America Recycles Day, ProShred will recycle all shredded data.

YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg breaking ground on new Bardmoor YMCA

Largo, Florida - The YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg announces plans to break ground on a new Bardmoor YMCA facility in January 2014.  The $6.6 million project will grant the capacity to serve more than 14,000 local residents annually through membership and programs.  

The estimated opening date for the new facility is August 2014.
