Pinellas Park, Florida-- Bring out your artistic side at the Pinellas Park Library.

Young artist are urged to join the Teen Art Club which meets at the library the 2nd Monday of each month.

Join the next meeting which will take place on Monday, January 13th beginning at 6 PM.

Gather with like minded individuals while working in an informal and supportive environment.

Acrylic painting and pencil drawing are the media to start with.

Heritage Village presents fourth Speaking of History lecture

Pinellas County, Florida -- As part of the Speaking of History lecture series, author and graphic designer Rick Kilby will present “Finding the Fountain of Youth: Ponce de Leon and Florida’s Magical Waters” on Sunday, Jan. 19. The lecture and book signing will be held at 2 p.m. in the Pinellas Room at Heritage Village.

Kilby’s book, published in 2013 by the University Press of Florida, describes how the search for treasures along Florida’s waters 500 years ago continues to remain part of the mystique of Florida.

New Year specials at Pinellas County Animal Services

Pinellas County, Florida -- In celebration of the new year, Pinellas County Animal Services is offering adoption specials on cats and dogs through the end of January.

As part of the New Year’s Slim Down specials, the adoption fee for large dogs and cats is $25 and $75 for puppies and small breeds during normal shelter adoption hours. The fee includes a medical checkup, spaying/neutering, vaccinations, internal and external parasite control and microchipping. The required Pinellas County license is also provided.

Pinellas Park, Florida-- The Pinellas Park Library will be opening their doors for a new round of Adult Book Discussions.

These free events will take place on the 3rd Thursday of each month beginning at 2 p.m. 

The next discussion will take place on January 15th, when the group will focus on Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

Pinellas County, Florida -- Before the holidays, the call went out to the community from Pinellas County Animal Services to clear out the kennels. By the end of the day on Dec. 23, the dog adoption area was empty, thanks to foster parents who brought a pet home for the holidays to give them some love and care.

Pinellas County, Florida -- Here some fun outdoor events happening at Weedon Island Preserve and Brooker Creek Preserve:

Weedon Island Preserve

Weedon Island Preserve continues the numerous opportunities available for hikers. Each Saturday in January hikers can learn about the ecosystems and early residents of the preserve while hiking the coastal uplands and boardwalks through mangrove forests. This two-hour hike, beginning at 9 a.m. is best for ages 6 and older. Advance registration required.
