Local businesses celebrate Keystone Road reconstruction

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- Businesses along Keystone Road are excited about the end of the three-year, $32 million reconstruction project.  In fact, dozens of them are offering special promotions to customers as a way to celebrate.

The one-time two lane road between U.S. 19 and East Lake Road was widened to four lanes. During the reconstruction phase, many drivers avoided the area, along with the businesses in the corridor.

Keep Gulfport Weird Triathlon coming up in September

Gulfport, Florida -- Plans are under way for the upcoming Keep Gulfport Weird Mini Triathlon scheduled for Saturday, September 28, same day as the Tangerine Blues Fest.   This route connects the 49th St. Redevelopment District with the Waterfront area. The course will incorporate in order, a 1 mile run, 3 mile bike and 1/4 mile swim.  The run will begin at the church parking lot of 5424 Gulfport Blvd. S., then, bike around the Clymer Park Greenways to Shore Blvd. S., to finish with a swim along the beach from Shelter # 7 to the Gulfport Casino.

Largo, Florida - Members of the community are invited to join in the grand opening ceremony of Largo's new Bayhead Action Park on Saturday, August 17.

The ceremony, led by the City of Largo's Parks Division, will feature a ribbon cutting, skate and bike demonstrations, DJ music and giveaways sponsored by 688 Skateshop FLA, Dukka Skateshop, Westside Skateshop and Misiano Skatepark Construction.

Hippie Fest & Food Truck Rally this Saturday!

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- Organizers are promising peace, love and food trucks this weekend in Tarpon Springs.

The Hippie Fest and Food Truck Rally will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 4:00-9:00pm along historic Tarpon Avenue downtown at the Sponge Docks.

The event features live music from The Defendants (Sponge Docks) and Ron and the Classics (Tarpon Avenue,) a "love bug" show and contest, as well as a hippie costume and a hula hoop contest.
