Funeral arrangements for former Tarpon city leader LeCouris

Tarpon Springs, FL -- Visitation and funeral arrangments have been set for Blaine LeCouris, a former police chief, city manager and city commissioner in Tarpon Springs.


LeCouris died Thursday at the age of 87.


Visitation will take place Monday, Jan. 17 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Vinson Funeral Home located at 456 E. Tarpon Ave.

Treasure Island, FL -- Today is the last day to check out kites bigger than school buses as flyers from all over the world compete and share their love of kites with Florida residents.

The 14th Annual Treasure Island Kite Festival, the largest of its kind in Florida, kicked off yesterday as competitors came from all over to win an invite to the Grand Nationals.

WhatAKite flies a collection of some of the largest kites in the sky including a 140-foot octopus, a 90-foot shark and caterpillars larger than a school bus.

Pinellas Park, FL -- Relive the golden years of theatre as lovely melodies are played on the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Organ.


The pipe organ, lovingly restored by the Central Florida Theatre Organ Society, created the sound of a full orchestra, including a variety of percussion instruments and a bevy of sound effects.

Tarpon Springs, FL -- A celebration in Tarpon Springs in honor of Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr. was held today.


The city hosted their annual MLK Parade this morning.


It started shortly after 11 a.m. at South Pinellas Avenue and Lemon Street outside the Bank of America.

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- January is the month of highest blood usage by patients in Tampa Bay. In addition to the existing need for blood, there is currently a critical need for more minority donors on the National Marrow Donor Program's 'Be The Match' Registry.

Therefore, Ten News has teamed up with Chili's restaurants to sponsor Ten News Martin Luther King Day Blood & Marrow Donor Registry Drive, on Monday, January 17, 2011. 

All lifesaving donors will receive a commemorative  Martin Luther King Jr. T-shirt, a Chili's FREE $5 Be Our Guest Coupon and a wellness checkup, including a cholesterol screening.  In addition, all blood donors will receive information on joining  the National Marrow Donor Program's 'Be The Match' Registry!

A bloodmobile will be at the Ten News studios, located at 11450 Gandy Blvd. in Saint Petersburg.

Safety Harbor, Florida -- All the foodies in Safety Harbor will be happy to know that the beloved annual tradition, Taste of Safety Harbor, will be bringing its signature selection of food and beverages from restaurants around the community back this Monday.

The 5th annual event will start at 5:30 p.m. and last until 9:00 p.m. at the Safety Harbor Resort & Spa.

Food and wine samplings from some 30 restaurants and caterers, plus a silent auction, raffle, art show and dancing with Fred Astaire instructors are all on the schedule.
