Souper Soups Festival today at Downtown Clearwater Farmers Market

Clearwater, FL -- Sample gourmet soups from downtown Clearwater restaurants at The 16th Annual Souper Soups Festival today during the Downtown Clearwater Farmers Market.

Proceeds from the event, running from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., will be donated to area charities.

The Downtown Farmers Market, held every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through the cooler winter and spring months, features gourmet foods, farm-fresh produce, assorted cheeses, pastries, local honey and many other delicacies and hand-made items.

New autism support group comes to Pinellas County

Seminole, FL -- There is a new Peer Support Group for everyone affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders
and related disorders kicking off next week, on Thursday, Jan. 20 at 5:45 p.m. at Bay Pines Lutheran Church.

This Christian Peer Support Group for all people affected  by Autism Spectrum Disorders will include guest speakers once a month, resource-sharing, prayer, and emotional support.

Gulfport sponsors free Clothing Swap to benefit CASA

GULFPORT, FL - Gulfport's next free clothing swap will take place at the Gulfport Tuesday Fresh Market today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The clothing swap will be held in the Fresh Market area, near The Outpost on 3007 Beach Blvd. South.  Participants are invited to bring up to five gently used garments to exchange for vouchers that may be used to select clothing brought in by other participants.  Clothing may be for women, men or children.  Please provide hangers for all garments to be used in the swap.  For anyone interested, vouchers may also be purchased for $3 each.  

Donations of clothing above the 5-garment limit will be accepted.  All additional donations should be contained in bags or boxes.  All cash proceeds, donated clothing, and non-selected garments at the end of the swap will be donated to Community Action Stops Abuse (CASA). CASA is a local non-profit organization providing services to survivors of abuse or violence. In case of rain, the clothing swap will be rescheduled for Tuesday, February 8th.

"Healing of Magic" program coming to Largo children's center

"Healing of Magic" program coming to Largo children's center

Largo, Florida - Kevin and Cindy Spencer of the Spencer's Theatre of Illusion will perform a special program called the "Healing of Magic" in the Children's Center at The Palms of Largo on Wednesday, January 20 at 10 a.m.

The Children's Center is located at 499 Alternate Keene Road, Largo 33771.

According to the city, the "Healing of Magic" is a carefully designed, systematic approach to the therapeutic use of simple magic tricks in physical and psychosocial rehabilitation.

The Spencers say they have greatly expanded upon the concept of using magic as a tool in rehabilitation medicine. They add that through their efforts, new treatment modalities are being explored and used to effectively improve everyday skills of people who have experienced strokes, accidents, spinal cord or head injuries, learning or developmental disabilities, visual deficits, psychosocial disorders, and those who have problems with alcohol, drug abuse and many other diagnoses.

Free outreach for the public on bankruptcy today

Saint Petersburg, FL -- The Community Law Program, Inc. (CLP), a local non-profit legal services organization, in conjunction with Stetson University College of Law will host a free outreach forum on bankruptcy today to educate and advise the public about bankruptcy.

This event will take place at the Enoch Davis Recreation Center, 1111 18th Ave. S., in St. Petersburg at 4:30 pm.

Due to this area being second in the nation for bankruptcy filings, CLP has coordinated a team of volunteer attorneys to alert and educate the general public on their bankruptcy options.

Dali Grand Opening Season of Events starts today

Saint Petersburg, FL -- The Dali Museum starts its Grand Opening Season of Events today that will provide the Tampa Bay area community, museum members, and visitors from around the world the chance to be among the first to experience the new Dali.

On Sunday, January 9, 2011, the museum will be open to members of the Dalí for a special preview of the collection in its new home. Hosted by the museum's Zodiac Group, the day will feature entertainment, crafts, family activities and short programs throughout the day.

Actress Susan Sarandon will speak about the arts, culture and more tonight from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Museum Theater for a "Members Circle" only event for a very small gathering of less than 100 guests at the new museum.
