More lifeguards for Clearwater Beach

Clearwater Beach, Florida -- There will be more lifeguards working longer hours on the beach, under a proposal the city council will consider at its next work session.

City staff is recommending adding at least two full-time positions and expanding their duties from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., between March 1st and Labor Day.

Holiday Lights heralds the start of the season in Pinellas County

Pinellas County, Florida -- The Florida Botanical Garden’s annual Holiday Lights in the Gardens event opens Friday, Nov. 29, at 5:30 p.m. More than 750,000 brilliant LED lights illuminate pathways and plazas throughout the gardens. Visitors also enjoy the wide array of seasonal decorations and displays, live holiday-themed entertainment and special visits with Santa Claus.

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- Santa Claus is planning some special tours around the city of Tarpon Springs with some escorts leading the way--firefighters!

St. Nick will ride aboard a Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue fire engine for seven evenings--departing each night from the main station at 444 S. Huey Avenue. 

The evenings of the tours are Dec. 4, 5, 9, 10, 12, 17 and 18--touring a different section of the city each night. Click here for maps of Santa's routes.
