Miles For Men Prostate awareness race Saturday

Clearwater Beach, Florida -- The Miles for Men Prostate cancer awareness run will start 6:30 p.m. Saturday, September 7, at Morton Plant Hospital.

The 10k race will follow a course north on south Fort Harrison to downtown and across the Memorial Causeway bridge to the beach marina and back. The 5k race turns around on the beach side of the causeway bridge.

Pinellas County, Florida -- The method of water treatment utilized by Pinellas County and its wholesale customers will be temporarily modified between Sept. 3 and 23, 2013. This short-term change from chloramine to chlorine disinfection is a routine maintenance measure designed to optimize water quality.

Pinellas County, Florida -- At Pinellas County Mosquito Control, the quest to eradicate as many of the pesky bugs as possible is an ongoing responsibility.

Scientists at the county believe that the focus on stopping the mosquitoes before they even grow into flying biting machines is the most effective means of control. To do so, they monitor and larvicide on a daily basis throughout the county, and fog in locations where it is specifically needed.

Largo, Florida -- Tone muscles, build core strength, lose weight and increase your overall fitness with two different boot camps offered through the City of Largo's Recreation Department. Join certified instructors for a variety of cardio-focused exercises and drills both indoors and outdoors, in the park or at the new Highland Recreation Complex. Classes are offered at two different locations and three times a week to fit every schedule.

Keep Gulfport Weird Triathlon coming up in September

Gulfport, Florida -- Plans are under way for the upcoming Keep Gulfport Weird Mini Triathlon scheduled for Saturday, September 28, same day as the Tangerine Blues Fest.   This route connects the 49th St. Redevelopment District with the Waterfront area. The course will incorporate in order, a 1 mile run, 3 mile bike and 1/4 mile swim.  The run will begin at the church parking lot of 5424 Gulfport Blvd. S., then, bike around the Clymer Park Greenways to Shore Blvd. S., to finish with a swim along the beach from Shelter # 7 to the Gulfport Casino.
