East Lake advances to state semi-finals with 49-14 win | HS Sports
Tarpon Springs, FL - The East Lake Eagles advance to the state semi-finals for the first time in school history with a 49-15 win over Port Charlotte.
Jake Hudson threw five touchdown passes, three to George Campball and two to Daniel LaCamera.
Artavis Scott also contributed with two touchdowns, including a dazzling 68-yard punt return, that put the Eagles up 21-0 in the first quarter.
But a few minutes later the loud East Lake crowd went silent when Scott went down clutching his right knee. Scott would come off the field under his own power and get back into the game minutes later.
In the second quarter, Scott showed no signs of his injury, with a nice 9-yard touchdown run around the left side.
East Lake lead at the half 35-7, and for the second consecutive playoff game, the Eagles would see a running clock in the fourth quarter.
Next week, East Lake (13-0) will host Dwyer (13-0) with the winner advancing to the state championship game in Orlando.
