HOT 101.5 Player of the Week

Countryside, FL-- The HOT 101.5 high school football Player of the Week, is senior running back Diomi Roberts of Countryside HS.

Last Friday, the Cougars were trailing Pinellas Park by a touchdown at the half.  That's when Diomi strapped the team to his back, and led his team to a 28-21 victory.  He rushed 31 times for 227 yards, and 3 touchdowns... all in the second half.

Robinson wins 20-13 over Lakewood

High School district football Friday night.  Class 5A, 9 Lakewood traveled to Robinson. Up for grabs: 2nd place in the district and a big congratulations for a brand new homecoming King and Queen.

Lakewood grabbed a 13-7 lead in the 3rd when Robinson kicked it into high gear.  Vidal Woodruff with the pass to Martin Ruiz was good for more than 20 yards. That set up a Michael Duclos touchdown run.

Nine yards on the run gave the Knights a 14-13 lead. Robinson wins it, 20-13 the final.

Jesuit blanks out Gibbs 31-0

Tampa, FL -- Jesuit head coach James Harrell and his Tigers were hoping to hang on to their district lead as they hosted Gibbs on Friday night.

First Quarter, Rico Gonzalez would take it 5-yards to the end zone for a touchdown that put the Tigers up 7-0.

The Tigers were rocking on defense too, Matt McDonald came up with a big sack on Gibbs' Gary Simon. The Tigers held Gibbs scoreless all night and won it 31-0 the final.

Hot 101.5 Player of the Week

Largo, FL-- The Hot 101.5 Player of the Week, is Largo HS running back Derrick Doss.

The junior back opened the game against  Boca Ciega, by returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown.  He followed that up with a running touchdown, then followed that up with a passing touchdown.

The Packers defeated Boca Ciega, 35-20.


Pinellas Park beats Northeast 35-14

There was a big district matchup in Pinellas County this week as Pinellas Park took on Northeast.

The Patriots enjoyed touchdowns of 11 and 50 yards from Jeremi Powell, and Quarterback Brandon Hames added touchdowns to Tyree Graves and Iman Smith.

It was closer than it looked as the Vikings led it 14-13 at the half on a pair of touchdowns from Demarkus Corbin.

Countryside shuts out Clearwater 35-0

Countryside continues to dominate Pinellas County in quiet, but efficient fashion. The Cougars improved to 8-0 with a 35-0 win over their city rival Clearwater.

Running back Diomi Roberts put Countryside ahead for good early with a pair of short touchdown runs to give the Cougars a 14-0 lead.

Quarterback Gray Crow then took charge, throwing three touchdown passes to stretch the lead and Countryside cruised.

Countryside will get a touch test next Friday when they host Pinellas Park.  Both teams are 3-0 in district play.


Jesuit holds off Lakewood 33-19

St. Petersburg, Fla. -- Jesuit did just enough to hold off the terrific Lakewood passing duo of Tracy Johnson and Rodney Adams.

Johnson connected with Adams for two touchdowns, but Jesuit maintained a constant lead and held off Lakewood 33-19.

The win improved Jesuit to 7-0 in the massive nine-team district and can cap a perfect district season next Friday with a win over Gibbs.

Nick Otheguy gave Jesuit a 7-0 lead with a 75-yard interception return for a score.  Then Tommy Eveld threw a 20-yard score to Travis Johnson to stretch the Tigers lead to 14-0.
