Deaf football players make an impact at Pinellas Park High

If you have ever played high school sports then you know that it is no easy task, but can you imagine playing football without hearing anything at all? 

Well that's exactly what two players are doing at Pinellas Park High School this fall.  Those players are junior Tyler Cook and freshmen Neill Kovatch. 

Largo's Juwan Brown Player of the Week

Largo, FL - Largo quarterback Juwan Brown is the Southern Ford Dealers Player of the Week.

The senior quarterback only played in the first half of the Packers final regular season game against the Gibbs Gladiators.   Brown completed 11 of 17 passes for 172 yards and three  touchdowns, leading Largo past Gibbs 37-14 and to a perfect 10-0 season.

For the year, Brown has completed nearly 70 % of his passes, thrown for 1375 yards, with 17 touchdowns and no interceptions.

Volleyball Playoffs: CCC Advances to Regional Championship

The gym was rocking at Clearwater Central Catholic this week as the Marauders took on Calvary Christian in the Regional Semifinals.   But it wasn't easy for the home team as they were facing a heavy hitting Warrior squad that is lead by the 6'2" Rachel Mostert.  Luckily for the Marauders, they had defensive specialists Rachel Miller and Casey Moore.   

CCC beats St Pete Catholic 56-0

Clearwater, Florida -- Clearwater Central Catholic completed it's Class 3A - District 5 schedule 3-0, with a 56-0 pounding of St. Petersburg Catholic.

The Marauders scored 4 touchdowns in the 3rd quarter to blow open the game. Junior running back Diquan Walker provided two rushing scores to lead a balanced offensive attack.

Clearwater Central Catholic (3-0, 8-1) are the Class 3A - District 8 champs, and will face Frostproof at home, in the first round of the playoffs.

East Lake wins 8A-District 7 title

East Lake, FL-- East Lake High defeated Palm Harbor University High, 35-21, to win the 8A-District 7 championship.  Palm Harbor University High finishes as the runner-up.

East Lake senior QB Pete DiNovo threw 3 touchdown passes, and ran for another.  DiNovo has thrown for 12 touchdowns in his last 3 games.

East Lake will host a first-round playoff game Nov. 16.  Palm Harbor will open the post-season on the road.


Robinson beats Lakewood wins 5A-8 District

St. Petersburg, Fl - It was a battle of unbeaten teams, a battle of south St. Pete vs. south Tampa, a battle for the Class 5A-8 district championship.

The Robinson Knights got things rolling early.   Second play from scrimmage, Carlos Duclos took the pitch from quarterback Zain Gilmore and ran untouched 50 yards for the score.

In the second quarter, Robinson (8-0, 7-0) keep things rolling their way.   Martin Ruiz ran five yards for a touchdown and Gilmore went 18-yards up the middle, giving the Knights a 19-0 halftime lead.
