East Lake's Pete DiNovo Player of the Week

Tarpon Springs, FL -- East Lake Eagles quarterback Pete DiNovo is the Southern Ford Dealers Player of the Week.

The senior completed 21-31 passes for a career best 375 yards and six touchdowns, leading the Eagles to a 41-20 Class 8A-District 7 win over the Sarasota Riverview Rams.

In the game, DiNovo also became Pinellas County's all-time leader in career passing yards, with 5,767 yards.   DiNovo moves past former Tampa Bay Buccaneer  and Gibbs High School star  Shaun King, who had 5, 736 total passing yards.

District Volleyball: Calvary Christian Defeats St. Pete Catholic

In a clean sweep Monday night Calvary Christian advanced past St. Pete Catholic High school 3-0 in the Class 3A District 9 tournament.   The score was 25-8, 25-8, and 25-11.

The Warriors will now play Indian Rocks Christian, with the winner advancing to the District Championship game.

Patriots Pounce on Vikings 35-14

It was Senior Night on Friday at Northeast High School as the Vikings did battle with the Pinellas Park Patriots. Early on, it was all Pinellas Park, as the Patriots jumped out to a 14-0 nothing lead in the first behind touchdowns from Garrett Nevitt, and Pierre Johnson, who rumbled in from 9 yards out.

In the second quarter the game became a defensive battle as neither team scored.

Countryside's Mike Jerrido Player of the Week

Clearwater, Florida -- Countryside Cougar's running back Mike Jerrido is the Southern Ford Dealers Player of the Week.

The senior rushed for 126 yards on 12 carries and scored two touchdowns last Friday, in Countryside's big district win over previously unbeaten Northeast.

Jerrido, the teams leading rusher, spreads the love when it comes to his favorite teammates, the offensive linemen.

Girls Volleyball: CCC beats Indian Rocks Christian 3-0

Clearwater, Florida - The Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders lost for the first time this past weekend in the Tampa Bay Invitational. But on senior night, they came out with a renewed spirit, sweeping the Indian Rocks Christian School Golden Eagles 25-9, 25-13, 25-14.

The Marauders (15-3) are now preparing to travel to Orlando for a tournament that features some of the top teams in the state.

With the loss, Indian Rocks Christian falls to 12-7. 

Girls Volleyball: Senior Night at Clearwater Central Catholic

Clearwater, Florida - The Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders honored their seniors before their match against Class 3A District 9 rival Indian Rocks Christian School.

Flowers, hugs, and tears of joy were all part of the pregame ceremony for the teams' four seniors: Rachel Miller, Casey Moore, Alyssa Rodriguez, and Christy Moore.


Countryside runs over Northeast, 49-0

Clearwater, Florida - The Countryside Cougars had more then 300 yards of total offense, as they ran over the previously unbeaten Northeast Vikings 49-0.

Countryside (2-0, 5-1) is now tied with Pinellas Park for the district lead. Northeast (5-1, 1-1) faces Pinellas Park on October 19th in a must-win game.
