Northeast High School coach named Bucs' Coach of Week

St. Petersburg, Florida -- On Friday, Sept. 28, Northeast High School Head Coach Mike Jalazo proved that hard work and perseverance pay off. In an improbable second half comeback, Northeast recovered from a 31-7 deficit to defeat Tarpon Springs 41-37.

As a result of the Vikings' come-from-behind victory, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers named Jalazo the Buccaneers' Coach of the Week for Week 5 of the 2012 season.

Admiral Farragut's Brad Hyman-Muhammad Player of the Week

St. Petersburg, FL-- Admiral Farragut wide receiver Brad Hyman-Muhummad is the Southern Ford Dealers Player of the Week.

The senior caught six passes for 132 yards, including three touchdowns, last Friday, in the Blue Jacket's big district win over Carrollwood Day School.

Hyman-Muhummad says all his hard work off the field is now paying off on the field.

CCC blanks Palm Harbor University, 30-0

Palm Harbor, FL-- Clearwater Central Catholic shut out Palm Harbor University High, 30-0, for the Hurricanes' first loss of the season.

CCC quarterback Blake Gomez was 8 of 9 passing, for 123 yards, and a touchdown to Trey Larry.  Larry also ran for a score.

The Marauders' defense held Palm Harbor to 153 yards of total offense.

 

 

Northeast rallies in 2nd half to beat St. Pete, 22-17

St. Petersburg, FL-- Northeast High rallied in the 2nd half to beat St. Petersburg High, 22-17, at John M. Sexton Field.

Northeast sophomore quarterback, Ryan Davis, ran for 2 touchdowns and passed for a 3rd.  The passing touchdown, 45 yards to Jalin Hubbard in the 3rd quarter, gave the Vikings a lead they would not lose.  Davis rushed for 116 yards, and passed for another 131 yards.

The Vikings' defense shut out the Green Devils in the 2nd half, to remain undefeated at 4-0.

 

Northeast gets by Boca Ciega 12-6

St. Petersburg - Northeast quarterback Ryan Davis threw for two long scores to lead the Vikings past the Boca Ciega Pirates 12-6.

The Vikings are 3-0 for the first time since 2007. The 0-2 Pirates are still looking for their first win of the young season.

Girl's Volleyball: East Lake unveils state championship banner

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- The East Lake Eagles celebrated their back-to-back state championship titles in girls volleyball this past Thursday, with the unveiling of a 2011 state championship banner.

After a very brief ceremony, in front of an enthusiastic crowd, the Eagles got back to action on the court, defeating district rival Sarasota Riverview, 25-20, 25-21, 16-25, 23-25, 15-17.

Tampa Catholic runs past St Petersburg Catholic 48-0

St. Petersburg - Tampa Catholic scored touchdowns on their first three possessions, controlling both sides of the ball, with a 48-0 district 3A-5 victory.

The Crusaders (3-0, 1-0) racked up more than 400 yards on offense while their defense limited the Barons (2-1, 0-1), playing without injured running back Ryan Green, to only 70 total yards.  

Tampa Catholic quarterback Kyle Ploucher completed 12-17 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns.
